Create Your Best Life: Happiness Triggers
Living a life of happiness, joy, and optimism is a necessity for me. Daily I strive to enter the world with an optimistic outlook on life because it’s the environment in which I thrive. In this space optimism life is worth living despite the many obstacles and disappointments. I gain the strength and tenacity needed to greet every challenge with faith embracing the reality that everything is working together for my good.
I enjoy reading! Actually, it’s a love of mine. Last year I spent some time reading Happy Women Live Better by Valorie Burton. She shared the strategy of creating a list of the things you enjoy doing the most and to implement them daily into your life. The result is a tranquil journey of creating your own happiness. I’m in control of my own happiness just like you are in control of your own happiness. Unfortunately, others can’t make us happy. They may try, but inevitably they will fail miserably. Don’t get me wrong, it would be nice to pass on the responsibility, however everyone else is on their own personal journey and it’s super unrealistic to place that kind of burden on them. Friends can’t make us happy. Our families don’t have the capacity to make us happy and a spouse surely is not responsible for our happiness.
I created my list and made it my business to implement them in my schedule. Daily. I blocked off time in my planner and was intentional. Exercising is a happiness trigger for me, thus I’m a regular at my gym’s Zumba and cycling classes. I enjoy painting my nails so once or twice a week that’s what I’m doing while watching one of my favorite shows or chatting on the phone. Traveling. Whew, I love embarking on new experiences in new destinations.
As adults, we have the power to create the atmosphere that's best conducive for our awesomeness. Take on the challenge! Create your best life by incorporating your unique happiness triggers in the midst of life’s happenings. ♥
